Parece que o tal senhor vai lançar um livro sobre o modo como ajudava os atletas a doparem-se. Mas há algo bastante interessante nas afirmações dele e que, no fundo, não deixa de ter a sua razão. São os seguintes parágrafos:
"Matschiner argues that blood doping is healthier than taking EPO or nothing at all, considering the physical effort required during the Tour de France.
"You're doing your body a service. It's nothing anybody could cry about," he said.
"With the performances they have to bring every day in a three-week race it's really not an issue.
"You go in with 45 and come out with 37. Don't tell me that's healthy. But if you substitute a little blood, you go from 45 and 43.""
No fundo, a "aditivação" do atleta com sangue novo quando o corpo esta´de rastos por causa do esforço talvez até seja mais saudável do que simplesmente não tomando nada. Por muito boa recuperação que se consiga fazer de um dia para o outro, é impossível recuperar a 100%.
